Oman to launch its first water park in 2016 worth AUD$110 million

An agreement has been signed today between Sayyid Fatik bin Fahr al Said companies and the Arabian Malaysian Development Company to build the biggest indoor water park ‘Majarat Oman’ at Al Sawadi beach in the Wilayat of Barka, 72km north of Muscat.

The water park, which will stretch over 25,000 square metres, is predicted to cost RO 40 million (AUD$110 million) and is expected to open in the first Majarat Oman Waterpark Renderingquarter of 2016.

Ahmed al Jabri, from the Arabian Malaysian Development Company, said that the water park will be the first of its kind in the Sultanate. Designed by the Sanderson Group of Australia, who developed Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast, the water park will be divided into four main areas individually themed called:  ‘Strange World’, ‘Excitement World’, ‘Space Station’ and ‘Nebton Water Park’. The water park promises be the biggest indoor entertainment facility in Oman.

Visitors to the Majarat Oman will be able to enjoy many family-friendly adventures, waterslides and/or the option of watching live musical and cultural shows. It will also include a number of carefully selected entertainment activities, diving sports, cinemas, modern restaurants and also include halls for conferences and special events catering to the needs of a growing audience for a wider range of event venues in Oman.
