Oman Tourism sponsored the Nibbler Roadshow which took place last night at Sydney’s UTS Function Centre.

Over 180 PCO’s and Travel Agents attended the first time event, encouraging Reed Business to carry on hosting similar events targeting the MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Conference & Exhibition) market. Oman Tourism was one of the major sponsors, keen to entice the audience with Oman’s growing range of venues, hotels and activities relevant to both intimate boutique incentive trips to large sized groups due to the new yet to be completed Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) which will be able to accommodate up to 10,000 people.

Due to be completed in 2016, the 22,000m2 convention centre will be a multi-integrated complex offering premium 3 – 5 star hotel accommodation, entertainment and other tourist facilities such as food courts and a car park for 4,000 vehicles. Rochelle Uechtritz, Groups Manager, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, says:

“Oman is now a serious player, these opportunities would not have been possible without the Government’s vision to develop the world-class Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre capable of hosting these types of numbers and providing the highly technical demands required for such events. Not only are we delighted to showcase Oman’s professionalism of organising prestigious events but we look forward to welcoming participants to experience the traditional Omani hospitality during future events and encourage them to then take the time to explore the country’s natural beauty and history.”

Oman’s generous range of activities, from high-end leisure to high octane adventure alongside the beauty of its vast coastline, turtle reserves, mountain ranges and magical golden sands lends itself to once in a lifetime experiences perfect for team building, product launches and incentives. In 2013, Chris Goddard from Maxim’s Travel surprised his team with an offshore conference and incentive. Goddard says:

“Oman is a tapestry of culture, scenery and hospitality and it showcases these elements in an awe inspiring way. It has not long opened its doors to tourism and as such, I felt it presented a remarkable opportunity to my team to experience a true representation of the Middle East. My sincere thanks go to Her Excellency Maitha al Mahrouqi, The Undersecretary for Tourism and a member of the Omani cabinet, for her attendance at our conference. I believe this demonstrates how critical Oman regards travel management companies and how it strives to strengthen industry ties for the benefit of the country.”

The Ministry of Tourism expect to add more than 3,650 rooms by 2018 with a new focus on developing cities and areas outside of Muscat such as Duqm, Musandam, Salalah and Saraya Bandar Jissah. The Ministry of Tourism (Oman Tourism) has an office located in Sydney and is open to all inquiries regarding hosting your next event in the Sultanate of Oman.
