“One Day” Indigenous Weekend Roars Into Freo Gala Evening 27th, Casual 28th January

Fremantle is giving “One Day”, the national indigenous celebration of Australian life a firecracker start in WA with 2 pops ups roaring into the nights of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January 2018 – celebrating bush tucker, live art and entertainment.

These spectacular weekend events have been created by Chef Zach Green  (who effortlessly realizes fine bush food menus between WA and NT); – Freo’s own superlative café Moore & Moore and Perth’s Paul Iskov’s pop up regional secret bush dining company Fervor.

“Food Brings Us Together’ is the tag line for the 27/1 opening gala event at B Shed, 1 Peter Hughes Drive Fremantle, from 5.30 to 9.30pm

Chef Zach, Moore & Moore and Fervor are highlighting indigenous food and the stories and connections behind each original dish on Zach’s menu.

“We know that food is the great life connector. Every billabong, every beach, every forest track has it’s own stories that tribal people share everyday but that so many of us don’t have access to hearing and sharing.”

“We will be sharing the stories of how food is imagined, how it is gathered or caught, how it’s prepared and eventually shared. We are all about promoting positive images of IndigenousAustralians and an understanding of the ancient knowledge that has cared forthis land for so long.”

27/1”s Food Brings Us Together’s evening will open with a traditional smoking ceremony, followed by tastings, 6 courses and petit fours. Matching wines from Denmark’s Brave New Wines are included with dinner.  http://bravenewwine.com.au

Costed at $195 per person (all inclusive) this is a not-for-profit gala– proceeds will go directly to the Elijah Foundation that realizes Zach Green’s ambition to see more indigenous chefs in the hospitality industry.  (5.30pm to 9.30 pm)*
