The 6th annual Hunter Valley Wine Festival will be the perfect end-of-year present for fans of Hunter Valley wines, as the Festival – being held on 30 June 2018 – will celebrate one of the region’s best-ever vintages.

Legendary Hunter Valley vigneron, Bruce Tyrrell, has described the 2018 vintage as being “in the top 5% of the past 50 years of vintages” and the 2018 harvest follows three outstanding years in a row.

Wines from over 40 of the Hunter Valley’s best large and boutique wineries will be available for tasting at the Festival, which is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley on Saturday, 30 June between 11am – 5pm.

In addition to wine tastings, there will be beer and cider tastings throughout the day, as well as high-quality local cuisine and entertainment.

A feature of this year’s Festival will be a wine and cheese tasting session hosted by Bruce Tyrrells (at 12.30pm) presenting cheeses from the acclaimed Hunter Valley Cheese Factory matched with wines from one of the Hunter Valley’s most famous vineyards, Tyrrells. Participation will be through a $2 donation for charity (NSW RFS), places are limited.

There will be a blind tasting sparkling wine competition at 2.30pm, hosted by Peterson House, the recognised specialist producer of sparkling wines in the Hunter Valley. Limited seats available for the crowd to watch and taste the surprise sparkling wine. Participation will be through a $2 donation for charity (NSW RFS).

The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest wine region renowned for its Semillon, Chardonnay, Riesling and Shiraz, along with emerging wine varieties, and organic and biodynamic wines.

Uniquely, the Hunter Valley Wine Festival is a family-friendly event, with children receiving complimentary entry to the Festival, where they will enjoy a variety of activities including a jumping castle, train rides, carousel, mini car rides and face painting.

Once again, the Festival will support the local Rural Fire Service, with fundraising activities on the day.

Presale tickets for the Festival are available for just $20. Tickets include festival entry, five tasting tickets and a tasting glass. A special group offer of ‘buy 6 for the price of 5’ is also available.
