This autumn, One Star House Party will build a weeklong pop-up at The Opposite House in Beijing. Running from 24 – 30 September 2016, the internationally renowned team behind pop-up restaurants in New York City, Taipei and Seoul, will execute a locally influenced menu that reflects their extensive travels throughout China.

For the month of September, the dynamic team of NOMA, Tom Aikens and Soho House alum, will scour the country foraging for ingredients as well as taking on apprenticeships with rice farmers and local street-food vendors alike.

Taking place at internationally acclaimed hotel The Opposite House in the bustling Sanlitun district, the menu will showcase elements of China’s rich cultural history, contrasted with modern culinary techniques. The One Star House Party team of chefs and carpenters will transform the contemporary Bei Space in the hotel basement to reflect their own inimitable anti-restaurant style, with handcrafted furniture and tableware setting the scene for a dining experience like no other.

“The sheer scale of China with its diverse landscape, countless cooking techniques and abundance of native ingredients makes this project our biggest creative endeavour yet,” says Chef James Sharman.

Each dish is served by the chefs themselves along with the story of their journey, making for a one of a kind dining experience.

“We are constantly challenging ourselves to bring outstanding new experiences to Beijing, where there is a growing appreciation for creative or unique experiences,” says Mark Passmore, general manager of The Opposite House. “We are delighted to work with One Star House Party and host their first pop-up in China. The Opposite House represents a vibrant mix of modern and traditional, making it a perfect complement to this concept.”

Reservations for the One Star House Party Beijing pop-up will be available from noon on 16 September 2016.
