To mark the start of the operating principle test at the end of July in BER Terminal 1, the airport company’s supervisory board held an additional meeting on 5 August 2019. The airport company’s management and TÜV Rheinland described to the supervisory board how the requirements for the operating principle test have been established in the last few months, through the completion and TÜV approval of all safety-related departments. In addition, the sequence of tests and testing scenarios for the coming weeks were presented and outlined.
Rainer Bretschneider, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “The beginning of the operating principle test is a central milestone on the path to the start of operations. The building completion of the systems related to fire safety was the dominant topic in our meetings for many years. The fact that TÜV Rheinland has now begun the comprehensive operating principle test after testing all individual facilities is very much welcomed by the supervisory board. Now, it is about sustaining our efforts in order to successfully handle the further tasks before the opening.”
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “The operating principle test is the goal we have been working towards for many years. We have been able to solve the numerous fire safety problems and have stayed within our time frame. Important milestones that we have all worked hard on have been achieved. This shows that the opening date is reliable and resilient.”
