Around 250 guests will attend the highly anticipated launch, including past Queensland greats Gary Belcher, Wendell Sailor and Petero Civoniceva.

Brisbane Showgrounds General Manager of Venue Sales and Marketing Jago Coyle said he was thrilled the Royal ICC had been chosen to host the naming of such an iconic sporting team.

“Queenslanders truly love their State of Origin and the naming of the team is when footy fever really starts to set in,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the stars of Queensland rugby league and treating them to a three-course dinner menu created by our talented Royal ICC chefs and featuring some Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show award-winning produce.”

Tonight’s event will be hosted by TV personality Cameron Williams.

The Royal ICC is located 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD at the Brisbane Showgrounds, one of the city’s most prominent events precincts. Since opening in March, 2013 the Royal ICC has hosted almost 500 events.
