Original French Steakhouse le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” Just Opened its First Venture in Asia

Original famed French steakhouse, le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” just opened its first venture in Asia, in the dynamic city of Hong Kong.  

unnamed (3)Located on Queen’s Road East in the bustling center of Wanchai, le “Relais de l’Entrecôte”, simply known as l’Entrecôte by its loyal following, will bring its authentic French bistro-style contre-filet, home-made fries, and its signature “secret” sauce to the city.

le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” operates a “no reservation” and “no menu” policy. The only decision diners will have to make is how they would like their steak cooked. The classic steak-frites experience can be enjoyed as a three-course lunch including a green salad with walnuts and steak-frites at HK$288, with a wonderful dessert of the day, served with complimentary tea or coffee. For dinner, an unforgettable two-course dining experience can be enjoyed at HK$288 per head.

unnamed (4)The dining experience commences with a fresh green salad topped with delicious walnuts from Perigord and a Dijon mustard dressing, using ingredients imported from France. A tasty and warm French baguette straight from the oven supplements the light starter.  A first serving of fully trimmed contre-filet steak drizzled with le “Relais de l’Entrecôte”’s secret sauce is then presented, cooked exactly to each diner’s preference. To complement the steak and unique sauce gourmet experience, a generous portion of home-made fries is served.

Soon after the first portion of perfectly cooked contre-filet is presented, the professional waitress trained under the traditional Parisian standards, will bring a second serving of the succulent beef on a sterling silver platter, which is kept at the perfect temperature, ensuring that the meat and addictive “secret” sauce remain in its best form. This ritual combined with the quality of the dish are what contribute to the fame of  le “Relais de l’Entrecôte”.

A dessert menu with a selection of over 15 different mouth-watering desserts is presented to finish the meal on a sweet note, with signature treats such as Profiteroles au chocolat, le Vacherin du Relais, la Tulipela Crème Brûlée, all of which are made with ingredients imported from France.  A selection of Artisan Cheeses is also available to round off a perfect meal at le “Relais de l’Entrecôte”.

unnamed (5)The meal is complemented by delectable wines from the family owned vineyard, Château de Saurs, located in Côte du Tarn, South West of France. Chateau de Saurs Rouge Tradition AOC Gaillac’s red has a deep red ruby-garnet colour, and consists of an attractive bouquet of cherries and  blackcurrants, with discreet hints of aniseed and cinnamon.  A balanced, round, elegant wine revealing subtle soft tannins charming the palate and is a good accompaniment to the meat served at le “Relais de l’Entrecôte”.

The signature French fare will be served in a space that reflects its Parisian origins, from the signature colourful table cloths and oak panelled red banquette seating, to the authentic timber-wood walls and service stations.  Dining tables modelled exactly after those that fill the original Parisian bistro seat 90 diners at capacity.  A large bar set against the wall showcases the variety of wines on offer and wonderful desserts, giving diners a glimpse of the calibre of French post-dinner treats, made to perfection.

The detailing of the venue is impressive, with vintage posters depicting traditional French liquor houses, while fixtures such as stencils, light fittings, and colour schemes to give diners an authentic experience identical to the one in Paris.
