egtmedia59There was a good reason to get excited, when I met Mr. Joachim Fischer from Tourism- Insider Berlin at the registration counter of IT&CMA at CentralWorld in Bangkok on the afternoon of September 30, who led a small group of interested media delegates in connection of an organized FAM-Trip of the prestigious Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Carlson Rezidor is famous for its more than 1,000 hotels worldwide with now 4 hotels in the busy Sukhumvit area of Bangkok, which we were invited to inspect accordingly.

From the nearby Chitlom Sky Train Station, we all took a ride to Asoke Train Station, where the first property was reached by foot, as the Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok is only some 400m away along Rachadapisek Road leading to the green Benjakitti Park and Queen Sirikit Convention Center. Due its location on one of the main transport intersections, Bangkok’s key sightseeing places are all in easy reach as are the city’s major lifestyle entertainment areas and shopping malls.

Apart from its convenient city-centre location, the Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok comes in a modern design and its entrance is hidden behind a green garden. Just behind a small lobby, there are lifts to the top floor of the hotel, where a rooftop swimming pool, gym and patio for relaxation await the hotel guests. GM Veronique Sirault was at hand to show us around. The hotel has altogether 95 comfortable rooms, including 35 deluxe corner rooms with high-tech digital connectivity. Stylish modern bathrooms feature rain showers. In the breakfast restaurant, an open kitchen allows guests to make direct requests to the chef to ensure their meal is prepared exactly the way they want. There is also the 80-seat CO2 restaurant and executive lounge.

For our next stop, we had to board two large pick up trucks to drive to Sukhumvit Soi 13, where the Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel is located just off Sukhumvit Road. The hotel is in a very quiet place and features 150 spacious rooms and suites designed for the business or leisure traveler, also having a fitness centre and a rooftop swimming pool. At the ground floor are some discerning dining and entertainment options. We were entertained at the asqu venue for a cocktail experience, while Mrs. Michelle Currey, Director of Sales & Marketing, gave us a vivid introduction to the Radisson Blu Plaza Resort down at Phuket Panwa Beach.

The third hotel we inspected was the newly built and standing tall Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok, which will feature 290 stylish rooms and suites. We had to wear a helmet as the hotel is still under construction. To be finished in February 2014, it will be one of the most elegant and luxurious hotels on Sukhumvit Road not far from Asoke Station to host events, meetings and conferences of all sizes. Auspiciously, we all received a voucher for a 3-day, 2-night complimentary stay and valid up to October 31, 2014.

Our last stop on the FAM-Trip was the very sophisticated and modern Park Plaza Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 18.

Heartily greeted and welcomed by GM Peter Lucas, we were shown around the hotel for inspection. The 4-star hotel is ideally located beside the Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok and gives value for money. As night had already fallen in, we were invited for a buffet dinner at the hotel’s spacious restaurant. Entertained with Loi Krathong songs and dances, we enjoyed the smart and spirited services and trend-setting designs of the hotel, which often is booked out. So you better make your reservations in time, what is also recommended for the other hotels we visited.

Finally, we had to say thank you to Mrs. Kerstin Poetzsch, who accompanied this very interesting FAM-Trip in Bangkok and was patient enough to answer all the questions we had. Actually, she came all the way from Frankfurt in Germany and is Director of Sales (Leisure) of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
