The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is further strengthening its influence in the Balkans with the news that the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia has become a government member. The announcement was made by PATA CEO Mr Mario Hardy at PATA’s annual Aligned Advocacy Dinner in London, UK on Monday, November 2, 2015 where the guests included Serbia’s National Tourism Organisation CEO, Ms Gordana Plamenac, and UNWTO Secretary General Mr Taleb Rifai.

“The nation’s 2015 tourism campaign ‘myserbia’ has been very successful in encouraging the dispersal of tourists beyond the capital city of Belgrade to a wealth of fascinating attractions including the famous Serbian wine routes, mountain resorts and health spas,” said Mr Hardy. “It is clear that whilst Serbia is well known to European tourists and travellers there is so much potential for tapping source markets further afield. Membership of PATA, with its proven benefits, will undoubtedly assist the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia to raise even further the profile of the nation’s city and rural tourist attractions.”
Ms Plamenac added, “The tradition of carefully selected themes for annual promotional campaigns in 2016 brings the focus on the Danube, rivers and lakes of Serbia. This theme and its regional approach will be excellent opportunity for overseas visitors. NTO Serbia with great excitement and expectations is looking into the PATA membership.”
