Set to become a new annual food festival for the seaside resort city and a culinary event in the region at large, the Amazing Pattaya Seafood Festival 2014 has been inaugurated as part of the annual Pattaya Grand Sale extravaganza, aimed at promoting both local and international tourism in Pattaya, as well as encouraging visitors to invest in enjoyable experiences that boost the local economy.unnamed (24)

During the three-day Amazing Pattaya Seafood Festival 2014, more than 100 food and drink stalls from famous restaurants in Pattaya and from Thailand’s eastern coastal region will be set up along the entire stretch of Pattaya Beach Road. All will be cooking dishes, in their own distinctive style, using freshly caught local seafood. Some of the region’s most talented chefs will use their skills to showcase the amazing ingredients brought in by the local fishermen.

As well tasting the dishes cooked on-site, visitors will have the chance to buy some great seafood unnamed (25)products and cooked dishes to take home, all sold at under the market price. In addition, there will be fun stage entertainment provided by the Royal Thai Navy band as well as famous singers and musicians performing throughout the three-day event. The culinary extravaganza will take place from 18.00-24.00 hrs.

Mrs. Vilaiwan Twichasri, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business of TAT said, “The ever-popular resort town of Pattaya was a sleepy little fishing village for centuries, until the tourists discovered it in the 1960s, so it seems a fitting place to hold the first Seafood Festival. Visitors, local and international, will get the chance to enjoy some of Thailand’s wonderful seafood ingredients, all freshly caught, and local chefs will be able to showcase their skills and create some tasty treats. This event is one of many aimed at encouraging a whole new wave of tourism into Pattaya.”

Pattaya has long been a popular tourist spot with overseas travellers who come to enjoy the beach and entertainment offerings. In 2013, over nine million tourists visited the town, spending around 85 million Thai baht.

The Amazing Pattaya Seafood Festival is just the latest in a range of annual festivals that take place in the seaside town, including the world-class Pattaya International Music Festival, Pattaya International Marathon, Pattaya’s Thai Food Festival and the Pattaya Grand Sale.
