DEMAND from Australian MICE operators for destination management services involving sporting events is becoming a major growth area for Hong Kong-based P C Tours, according to the company’s general manager Cary Chiu.

Mr Chiu was speaking in Melbourne half way through  a marketing tour of Australia taking him to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth spreading word of his company’s capacity  to offer a wide range of services in Hong Kong,  China, the Pearl Delta region and Indo-China, particularly Viet Nam and Cambodia.

He said that there was a continuing demand for P C Tours’ comprehensive range of ground services in all destinations, but there was some growing enquiry for support services involving horse racing, Rugby Sevens, dragon boat racing and other special interests.

P C Tours has been operating 20 years this year and is increasing its range of services to cater with a demand from the Australian MICE industry for finely personalized services at the high end of the market.

Mr. Chiu said that recent years had seen a steady five per cent growth in business from Australia but he expected this to grow to 10 per cent over the next year or so following the introduction of more diversified air services into Asia, such as the recent decision by Cathay Pacific to fly from Australia to Da Nang in Viet Nam via Hong Kong.

Based in Hong Kong and with offices in Shanghai and Beijing, P C Tours is represented in Australia by North Sydney-based Asian specialists Randall Marketing.
