The Sydney-based travel and tourism marketing and communication specialist will be responsible for sales and marketing activity, working closely with industry partners in developing high-end leisure and incentive business for Peirce & Leslie’s Indian operations.
Announcing The Unique Tourism Collection’s appointment, Peirce & Leslie Director of Business Development, Gopal Iyer said Australia will be a key focus in driving bookings for its well-established and unique travel experiences in India.
“We are looking to grow our incentive business, which has been steadily increasing over recent years out of Australia,” Mr Iyer said.
The romance of travel and the adventure of exploring new destinations are embedded in Peirce & Leslie’s history. In the 19th century two British explorers, Robert Peirce and Patrick Leslie came to India as tea planters and set up a travel division to cater to their executives, which has evolved over time to become one of the best purveyors of elegant journeys in the subcontinent.
Today, Peirce & Leslie provides destination management services to a select group of discerning travel and tour consultants across the world. The business philosophy is to work with a small number of companies who are the best in their market tailoring itineraries for tour groups and individual client preferences and requests.
Several activities are also designed to contribute towards development and social causes. In Jaipur, for example, the specially-designed heritage walk donates parts of the fees to the preservation of architecture and culture of the old city and, in Chennai, a visit to the performing art school helps fund continuing education for the children of local villages.
