The alluring aroma of steamed rice, assorted fillings and bamboo leaves harks the arrival of Duanwu festival or better known as the Dragon Boat festival among the Chinese locals. Dim sum chef of Zuan Yuan Chinese restaurant, Chef Jordan Chin rolls out bundles of goodness this June, available for a limited time only.
Rice dumpling lovers should make a beeline for the signature Abalone Rice Dumpling as it is wrapped with the finest ingredients such as the 12 head abalone, Five Grains which consists of black glutinous rice, wild rice, red rice and brown rice, barley and green bean, Cordyceps Flower and Conpoy accompanied with salted egg yolk, mushroom, dried shrimps and sliced roasted duck and chicken.
To mark this occasion, the chef is also dishing out the Eight Treasure Glutinous Rice Dumpling filled with Traditional Salted Roast Duck and the Red Bean Paste with Lotus Seeds dumpling for those with a penchant for sweet savouries. It is highly recommended to savour this delicious treat with a good pot of Chinese tea!
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month yearly. The celebration is to commemorate Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet and minister of the Zhou Dynasty.
