Personal Travel Manager Proves You Can Have a Baby and Still Work

TravelManagers’ personal travel manager Robyn Simmonds representative of Umina on New South Wales’ Central Coast, certainly delivers on the TravelManagers philosophy of providing personal and consistent client service, returning to work only 24 hours after the birth of her third child.

2013-07-02-090-croppedWhilst some might think returning to work so soon after giving birth is a little extreme, Simmonds has quite a different view.

“I was working on the travel requirements for a large group of police at the time Lauren was born. It was complex so while I could have easily passed it on to my buddy, I was keen to see it through. Being a home-based personal travel manager is absolutely perfect for me. I love my job and I love my family, so having the flexibility to make time for both is a dream come true. Lauren is a great sleeper, which certainly makes things easier too,” says Simmonds.

Simmonds attributes being highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively as the key to her success.

“I love my whiteboards! With an eight year old, two and a half year old and a newborn every mother knows the importance of being organized. I simply transfer these skills into my personal travel manager business and it works really well.  I couldn’t survive without my ‘to do’ lists.”

Simmonds’ clients couldn’t believe she was back to work so soon and enjoyed meeting baby Lauren.

“Lauren is certainly a great talking point with clients, everybody just loves seeing her and having a cuddle. It’s great to know I’m still making an income while enjoying a coffee with my clients chatting about travel and babies. There really aren’t many jobs that allow this type of flexibility,” says Simmonds.

TravelManagers’ General Manager Michael Gazal says, “Robyn is another example of how adaptable the TravelManagers personal travel manager model is, in working with each individual’s personal circumstances. The business partnership managers and national support centre team provide additional support for Robyn as she continues to work though this busy family time.”
