Popular Peruvian restaurant and pisco bar, MORENA, will be taking its tasty cuisine to the streets of Sydney this month when executive Chef Alejandro Saravia launches his food truck adventure “PERU ON THE ROAD”, to provide Sydneysiders with a first-hand experience of Peru’s vivid street culture.
The food truck will be located in Wynyard Park from Monday, 22 July to Tuesday, 23 July 2013 from lunch throughout dinner and will also commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relationship between Australia and Peru, and the Anniversary of the Independence Day of Peru (28 July).

Mr Saravia said the truck will provide Australians with an insight into one of the most entertaining aspects of Peruvian culture.

“A party on the streets that celebrates a mix of different influences is what makes Peruvian culture so unique”, Mr Saravia commented.

“We’ll be offering high quality street food matched with the spectacle of a mobile art exhibit, music and jarana (Peruvian style street party)”.

Visitors to the food truck will be spoilt with a delicious menu including:

Anticuchos de Alpaca – grass fed Millpaca Alpaca skewers marinated in a traditional anticucho sauce (mix of Andean roasted peppers, vinegar and garlic) served with chimichurri (fresh aromatic herbs macerated in oils and apple vinegar)

Pork Chicharrón – twice cooked crispy suckling pork belly served in a bun with caramelised sweet potato & orange puree, pickled daikon and malagueta chillies (spicy andean chilli)

Quinoa Salad – a vegetarian option, selection of organic seasonable vegetables served with a blend of Quinoa (Andean grain)

Arroz con Leche – creamy rice pudding served with poached green apples, pineapple and quinoa caramel

Sydneysiders will be able to track PERU ON THE ROAD in real time as part of the Sydney Food Trucks app for iPhone and Android www.sydneyfoodtrucks.com.au.

Situated in the heart of Sydney’s upbeat Surry Hills, Alejandro Saravia’s MORENAlaunched in October 2011 and showcases the amazing variety of flavours, ingredients and dishes of Peruvian and Latin American haute cuisine. With a fine dining service, yet fun and relaxed vibe it’s the perfect destination for foodies looking for something fun and different.

MORENA – 15/425 Bourke St, Surry Hills 2010. More info and online bookings at www.morena.com.au.
