Philippe Leboeuf, Area Vice President of Operations and General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Paris, has been named 2018 Best Independent Hotelier of the World.  Leboeuf will be presented with his award at the 38th annual Hotelier of the World Awards at Lotte New York Palace, New York, on 12 November 2018. The awards are held by leading global hospitality trade magazine Hotels to honour excellence in hospitality leadership.

Voted the world’s best hotelier by Hotels magazine readers, Philippe is a leading figure in European hospitality and the second French national to have received the award, following Hervé Houdré, in 2006.

The award recognises individuals according to defined standards of service, overall operational excellence, creativity in management and their contribution to the greater good of the global hotel industry.

With more than 25 years of senior management experience in the luxury hotel sector, Philippe has worked in some of the industry’s key locations internationally. He joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group from Claridge’s in London, where he was General Manager from 2007 to 2010.

Under Philippe’s leadership, Mandarin Oriental, Paris has become one of the city’s pre-eminent luxury hotels. As Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s first property in France, it celebrates the Paris of Today and Tomorrow, blending contemporary Parisian elegance with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary, award-winning service. As Area Vice President of Operations, he supervises the group’s Marrakech and Geneva hotels, too.

“I am really thrilled to have received this prestigious accolade,” says Philippe Leboeuf, “It is a great achievement, not only for me, but also for all colleagues, who work by my side, day and night, to deliver the legendary service for which Mandarin Oriental is renowned. We will continue to focus on our mission, which is to delight our guests and to ensure their stay with us is a memorable one”.

“We are delighted to congratulate Philippe on this well-deserved accolade, and wish him continued success,” said Christoph Mares, Chief Operating Officer for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. “Philippe works hard to motivate his team.  He is passionate, with an innate understanding of the luxury hospitality industry, combined with an extraordinary attention to detail,” he added.
