egtmedia59During last month’s PATA Travel Mart in Phnom Penh on September 17-19, Cambodia’s capital was visited by nearly a thousand travel experts and international delegates from 60 countries around the world.

On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Host Committee of PATA Travel Mart 2014, Tourism Minister H.E. Dr. Thong Khon had the great honor and pleasure to welcome all the participants to his beloved city of Phnom Penh and assured them that there is never a dull moment.

Given Cambodia’s great potentials, safe and clean environment, accentuated by the tourism promotional campaign “Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder” together with the competitive movement “Clean City, Clean Resort and Good Service”, it is no wonder that Phnom Penh’s hotel scene is getting stronger and stronger.

Most of the hosted media delegates stayed at “NagaWorld Phnom Penh”, which is acclaimed to be the best integrated business, leisure and entertainment hub in Cambodia. NagaWorld’s achievements are overwhelming, being awarded the best integrated entertainment destination and best business & MICE hotel in Cambodia 2010-2013, as well as the best leisure and best 5-star hotel of the year 2013.

NagaWorld’s strategic location near Chaktomukh, where the Mekong River meets the Tonle Sap River, ensures a majestic and mystical view. Its more than 700 luxury rooms are outstanding in their contemporary designed and spacious outfits together with one of the biggest ballrooms in the country. Phnom Penh’s tourist attractions are nearby: The National Museum, Royal Palace and Independence Monument.

Also, there are 10 world class dining food and beverage outlets in the hotel, including “the pangea fusion restaurant” with the best breakfast buffet in town offering an array of cuisines. Furthermore, “Darlin Darlin” is the trendiest dance club among others that attracts a huge urban crowd every night, as well as the non-stop Las Vegas style entertainment and casino facilities located at the hotel ground level hotel lobby. To enjoy a traditional Khmer massage, 22 treatment rooms at the spa floor are ready and come in suite with a personal sauna, steam and Jacuzzi. Needless to say, NagaWorld is still in an expanding phase, planning a NagaCity Walk opening in 2015. Please see at:

Going mid-scale, you can find riverside comfort near the heart of Phnom Penh at the newly opened BEST WESTERN River Palace Hotel on the banks of the Tonle Sap River and just past the Japanese Bridge on National Road No.5. The hotel is an absolutely fine property with 59 comfortable rooms and suites featuring 25 rooms with a city view and 34 ones with a superb river view. All the rooms have walk-in showers and bathtubs.

Other facilities at the BEST WESTERN River Palace Hotel include the Riverview Restaurant with a menu inspired by a mix of Western and Khmer cuisine as well as the Riviera Bar, which is conveniently located at the ground floor level of the hotel. Also, there are function rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a business corner with Internet service. The “Hamam” Spa can take your body on a unique and rejuvenating journey and is highly recommended to visit after a busy day in Phnom Penh.

Not to forget to mention that all the staff and management of the hotel is outmost friendly and trained to please and fulfill the wishes of the guests. There is a daily shuttle service to Wat Phnom, which is in the heart of the city, and from where out the guests can discover the busy town. Furthermore, the hotel is a premium partner of City Golf Cambodia, one ofPhnom Penh’s newest golf courses. For further information and reservation, please go to:

Last not least, for an integrated boutique hotel experience go not further than to the Frangipani Villa Hotels. Offering exceptional accommodation across their boutique properties in Siem Reap (2) and Phnom Penh (5), they are the smart and stylish choice for those tourists and visitors, who are looking for something different. Whether for business or leisure, each of the hotels delivers high quality service while guaranteeing a special experience.

For the last night in Phnom Penh on September 19, I chose to stay at the recommended Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel & Spa, which is centrally located across from both the Royal Palace and National Museum on the edge of Phnom Penh’s bustling art district. With its rooftop swimming pool, Plumeria Spa and Frangipani Royal Sky Bar, the villa style hotel makes oneself feel at home, relax and enjoy the unique ambience and special environment. The Royal Café downstairs is open all day from 6.30 to 22.00 o’clock and offers a menu of local and European dishes, fresh fruit juices, or cocktails.

Highly appreciated are travel services given by the reception staff. Whether you want to book a bus or boat ticket and need hotel booking onwards, tours arranged or other questions, a prompt complimentary service is given in a very friendly way. As I needed to urgently book a minibus ticket from Phnom Penh to the border province of Koh Kong near Thailand at the busy weekend, the staff was helpful to single out the Virak-Buntham Express Travel Service at the Old Market, where I could purchase one of the last tickets for 15USD.

Thus, the Frangipani Royal Palace boutique hotel is real value for money. And with its other similar properties in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, the Frangipani Villa Hotels will surely go a long way in Cambodia’s hospitality industry. For further information, please go to:

Finally, Phnom Penh’s growing hotel scene will soon see the opening of SOKHA Phnom Penh.

The hotel & residence is strategically located on the predominant Chroy Changvar Peninsula opposite to the Royal Palaceand approximately 13 km from Phnom Penh International Airport.

Offering breathtaking views towards the majestic Royal Palace and the confluence of the Mekong River and Tonle SapRiver, as well as a wide sweeping view of the unspoiled scenery of rural beauty in opposition to the capital, Sokha Phnom Penh with its 523 spacious rooms will provide the peaceful, less busy side of the already congested capital.
