Phrasebooks On File by Alistair Smith Travel Features

Each Phrasebook on File  comprises an introduction relating to the language, and a dozen or so simple, useful phrases, such as “hello”, “thank you” or “where are the toilets?”. A couple of samples are attached.

Then you’ll find more than 60 phrasebooks listed, from A-Z (Albania to Zimbabwe), mostly arranged by country.

However, it pays to be specific when ordering a Phrasebook on File because, for example, while the phrases are the same, Indonesia and Bali have different introductions.  The Latin American phrasebook is not the same as Spain.  China is Mandarin, Hong Kong is Cantonese.  Moroccan Arabic is different from Egyptian.

In some cases, the language rather than the country is highlighted, e.g. Bengali, which is spoken in Bangladesh and the Indian State of Bengal.  Urdu, also spoken in areas of India,  is under Pakistan.  Some of the phrasebooks cover regions rather than countries, for example, Basque and Catalan.  We’ve even got one for Las Vegas.  And Esperanto.

Even if you cannot find a phrasebook you want listed here, we might still have it.  We are preparing more all the time, or we may be able to put one together for you.

The phrasebooks cost $25 each (plus GST if applicable), and once purchased can be put into your own files for re-use later if the need arises.  However, they remain the copyright of Alistair Smith Travel Features.

Normally each phrasebook would be sent as a Word Document attachment, but if your system doesn’t like attachments, then tell us and we’ll put it into the body of an email.
