On Tuesday 8th July Marriott International hosted the launch of ICE, the peak body for the Incentive Conference & Event Industry in Asia Pacific in the stunning event space Water at Pier One Sydney Harbour.

7DA2C030-97AB-49DC-BC64-4DCA886838D6The backdrop of Walsh Bay lit by the sparkling lights of the cityscape and Luna Park was the perfect setting to celebrate the launch of ICE with key corporate guests enjoying an informative and enjoyable evening.

Guests were treated to artesian beverages including Pomegranate Martinis and Ginger & Orange Infused Ice Tea Cocktails along with a selection of gourmet canapés including seared scallops, lobster bisque, prawns, Sydney Rock Oysters and distinctly delicious bite-size pieces of frozen watermelon infused with vodka.

BBB76B23-7EF9-4EC2-9ED7-ED18B676EB24The launch was presided over by Inaugural President of ICE, Nigel Gaunt and Marriott International’s Regional Director, Global Sales South Asia, Avril Northridge. Nigel spoke of the benefits of ICE, outlining the key reasons behind the association’s establishment “with just over 200 members in Asia Pacific, and with approximately 50% of which are end-customers (corporate members), its important to have a body that can embrace customers as the peak member category, of which we are currently clearly achieving. Our Corporate Members are enjoying the fact that ICE is a forum for them to meet & network, which until now has not been readily available to them.”

Additionally, ICE will roll out an education program later this year, spearheaded by a conference 12-14 November at The Stones, Legian Bali. Both Pier One Sydney Harbour and The Stones Legian Bali are members of the Autograph Collection, Marriott’s inspiring collection of uniquely independent properties around the globe offering ‘Exactly Like Nothing Else’.

Additionally, Avril Northridge spoke about Marriott Hotel’s new online platform for event planners ‘Meetings Imagined’, the online platform that has been customised solely to provide tips and inspiration for meeting planners and to also introduce the “Red Coat Direct” mobile app, that meeting planners can now use at hotels like Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel and Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa.

Marriott Hotels has looked at and implemented the “re-imagining” of traditional meeting spaces to meet a growing demand for more inspiring and creative work environments.  Marriott Hotels is re-thinking everything from boardrooms, breakouts and pre-function spaces, taking a holistic approach to meetings and seamlessly integrating service, mobile technology and contemporary design.

The night concluded with a business card draw which saw an array of accommodation prizes and a two-year membership to ICE, which was immediately proceeded by the chef wowing the crowd by servicing up the famous Gelato Messina Bombe Alaska cakes which was specially brought in by Pier One Sydney Harbour for this event, capping off a charming evening.
