Plane full of football fans diverted with drunks on board

egtmedia59An easyJet flight carrying Russian football fans to Manchester for a big match against a local team has had to divert to Denmark to eject drunken passengers.

Manchester Airport is on alert for drunks. Just a few weeks ago, a bald-headed, middle-aged, burly, tattooed drunk flew in (also on easyJet, as it happens) stripped naked at the airport, urinated in public view and then challenged the plane’s captain to a fist fight before being tasered by police.

In the latest incident, an easyJet flight from Moscow, full of fans of football team CSKA Moscow, landed at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark after reports that a drunken fan had started pushing cabin crew around, the Manchester Evening News reported.

Danish police met the flight and took the alleged offender away, only for other football fans on the same flight to stage a rowdy protest about his arrest. They were then kicked off the flight as well, with the resulting row on board delaying the remaining 146 passengers by over an hour.

easyJet confirmed that flight EZY1872 flying from Moscow Domodedovo to Manchester was diverted to Copenhagen airport “due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger on board. One passenger was immediately offloaded on arrival.

“Unfortunately, prior to take off, it was necessary for the captain to take the decision to offload a further six passengers. The aircraft then continued towards Manchester where it landed with a short delay.”

A spokesman for the airline added: “The safety and welfare of its passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and easyJet would like to thank the passengers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

At least nobody stripped naked, as happened at the airport in October.

For the record, Manchester City thrashed CSKA Moscow 5-2.
