PLONK picked up by Network Ten and QANTAS In-flight

March 4, 2014 Aviation No Comments Email Email

After a successful launch, comedy web series PLONK is now set to go sky high with both a QANTAS In-flight and free to air channel premiere this March.

The wine show satire has already gained a national and international following, with over 170,000 viewers tuning into the comedy’s YouTube channel in the first week of the series launch.

Set amongst the stunning wine regions of New South Wales, the hilarious, 5 part, behind-the-scenes comedy follows the trials and tribulations of a hapless TV crew as they endeavor to create a unique and engaging wine show. Panviman

Channel ELEVEN will premiere the first episode of PLONK at 10pm, Tuesday 11th March 2014. The TV series will consist of three 30 minutes episodes, reedited from the original series. Tune into PLONK each Tuesday, with repeats to run on Sundays, beginning the 16th March.

PLONK will also take to the skies starting today, as part of the QANTAS In-flight entertainment line-up. Airing on domestic main screens, QANTAS are set to showcase one episode each month from March to July. Then Domestic and International Video On Demand screenings of all episodes will be available on QANTAS flights from April to July, exposing Australia’s picturesque wine regions to all their travellers. Comedy is always a hit with QANTAS passengers, with their Q Comedy channel viewed 4.7 million times in 2013.

The show is the brainchild of Nathan Earl, who’s teamed up with his production partner, Glen Condie of Wonder Communications. Playing comedic caricatures of themselves, the ensemble cast also includes Chris Taylor (The Chaser) as the show’s celebrity front man, Nathan Earl as the struggling producer and Joshua Tyler, “The Expert” who writes his own bloghttp://shirazamataz.tumblr.com/.

PLONK also features cameos from Steve Bisley, Susie Porter, Matt Moran, Stuart MacGill and some of Australia’s most prominent Winemakers, including Bruce Tyrrell, Tim Kirk, Philip Shaw and David Lowe.

Unpreparedness, creative differences and downright incompetence are at the heart of the action as the team scours the countryside in search of fine wine, eccentric people and exciting stories. Their hearts are in the right place – if only their camera was as well.

PLONK Executive Producer Glen Condie said, “We’re thrilled to announce that the show will now run on Network Ten and QANTAS In-flight. It’s exiting that so many people will now have an opportunity to see PLONK across a range of multi-platform delivery methods.

The feedback we are getting about PLONK from media and audiences alike has been hugely encouraging and we’re currently negotiating further distribution opportunities for PLONK, both in Australia and abroad. The future of PLONK looks promising.”
