Plus last minute chance to grab a 2014 Hero Pass – the only two resort season pass in Australia…

It’s now even faster to get to the Victorian Snowfields of Falls Creek and Hotham Alpine Resorts with the Holbrook bypass in NSW finally open to the public.

In the old days it may have been a 10 hour trip in the family EH station wagon, but over the years the time to get from Sydney to Melbourne has been reduced by three hours with the Holbrook bypass as the final link in the Hume Freeway between Melbourne and Sydney. It is now dual carriageway for its entire length of 880km with 49 towns bypassed, 22 of these in NSW.

Sydneysiders and beyond can now enjoy an easy and enjoyable drive south to two of Australia’s best alpine resorts, Falls Creek and Hotham. These sister resorts offer skiing and riding on the one ‘snow pass’ at both resorts, with a heli link available for only $130 return for guests who want to day trip between the mountains and explore more terrain – all 775 hectares on two mountains. The resorts are open year round and provide a range of activities from skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, day spas and dogsledding in Winter, through to hiking, cycling, fishing and events in Summer.

How long does it take? It’s much easier now to drive to Victoria for that next alpine holiday – gorgeous scenery too in the valleys and alps of North East Victoria

Comparative times to get from Sydney to the NSW resorts VS the Victorian resorts

Sydney Airport to Hotham – 6hrs 30min – 696km

Sydney Airport to Falls Creek – 6hrs – 659km

Sydney Airport to Perisher – 5hrs 40min, 480km

Sydney Airport to Thredbo – 5hrs 40min, 483km

To take advantage of the easy drive and access to two resorts on the one pass, Hotham and Falls Creek are offering until 5pm Thursday 10 October their Hero Pass – the only two resort season pass in Australia. Only $749 for adults and $499 for kids, the pass gives unlimited skiing and snowboarding access for the whole of season 2014 (June 7 – September 28). The deposit of $199 for adults ($99 for kids) is due this week with the balance payable in April 2014. The pass also includes a range of savings on both mountains including discounts on lessons, equipment hire and retail shopping. There are also a host of other benefits at Merlin Entertainment Group attractions including the SEALIFE (Sydney Aquarium), WILDLIFE Sydney, Madame Tussauds, SEALIFE (Oceanworld Manly), and Sydney Tower. Additional to this are benefits off mountain in the towns near the resorts plus offers from resorts overseas including some in Japan. www.heropass.com
