P&O Cruises’ ‘Homegrown Hero’ Campbell Remess, who has made more than 2000 signature bears to bring hope to sick children, is flying high on Pacific Jewel bound for Kangaroo Island.
Campbell and ‘Ocean Bear’, which he especially made to travel with him and his family on the four night cruise from Melbourne, took a flight together on the P&O Edge flying fox that sweeps across Pacific Jewel’s top deck.
Since the age of nine, now 14-year-old Campbell has been making the bears after borrowing his mother’s sewing machine because he wanted to take toys to sick children in hospital at Christmas.
He is also the inspiration behind Kindness Cruises which offers cruises to people who have recovered from life threatening illnesses.
Campbell and his family are travelling as guests of P&O Cruises and he is being presented with his Homegrown Hero award by the Captain in a ceremony on the bridge of Pacific Jewel.
In recent years, Campbell has attracted national and international prominence for his selfless work.
“At this special time of the year, it is great to know we can recognise the way in which Campbell is delivering hope one bear at a time,” said P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell.
“It is a pleasure to have Campbell and his family sailing onboard Pacific Jewel.”
