A ‘Perfect Match’ themed dating game played onboard P&O Cruises’ Pacific Dawn more than five years ago has led to a real-life perfect match for guests Sam Bresnik and Emma Waugh who have just announced their engagement.
Pacific Dawn Entertainment director Sandy Cadwallader played the show host in the game where Sam and Emma met for the first time in 2009. Sandy was delighted to realise he’d also played Cupid when Sam contacted him with the news and a wedding invitation this week.
High school teacher Sam said he and Emma, a product manager, had hit it off immediately and that they’d been inseparable ever since.
“I was on the cruise with a group of mates, while Emma was with her family and we met in the game show that Sandy was hosting,” Sam said.
“I definitely didn’t go on the cruise with the intention of finding someone but after I met Emma we just stayed together.”
In keeping with a Pacific backdrop to their romance, Sam chose an island in the Whitsundays to propose to Emma. In an incredible coincidence the newly engaged couple flew right over Pacific Dawn as they returned to the mainland by helicopter.
