P&O Cruises Reaches Half a Million Fans on Facebook

Australia’s favourite cruise line P&O Cruises sailed into Australia Day, reaching a landmark 500,000 fans on its Facebook page yesterday.http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/

The record reflects the passion P&O’s guests have for Australia’s largest cruise line. Fans are highly engaged with the cruise line’s posts and with each other, often stepping in to answer questions and share their experiences.

Just this week, a diary lost onboard Pacific Aria in December was found and returned to its owner thanks to P&O’s Facebook community, which quickly shared a post about the missing diary hundreds of times.

Since P&O launched the Facebook page in 2009, competitions and videos have proved a big hit, including the ‘How to Make a Towel Animal’ video series. A video of Jimmy Barnes performing on Pacific Eden on Australia Day has been viewed close to half a million times in less than 24 hours.

The page offers exclusive P&O Cruises’ apps as well as the chance to connect with other passengers before and after a cruise through event groups.

It also provides a great way for cruisers to discover the latest deals, with the current Wave Season TV commercial viewed more than 1.3 million times online.

P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said the cruise line was thrilled to reach the 500,000 milestone on Facebook on Australia’s national day.

“We love the fact that our guests are such a connected community who are keen to engage online, to join in the conversation, ask questions and help out,” Mr Myrmell said.

“Our Facebook page has become a welcoming place to relax and hang out, just like our cruises.”
