Police storm aircraft and dismantle woman’s seat

January 11, 2016 Aviation, Headline News No Comments Print Print Email Email

egtmedia59A police bomb squad dismantled a seat on a London-bound flight after a woman aboard was discovered allegedly travelling on a false passport.

The woman was removed from the British Airways flight minutes before it was due to take off from the Spanish holiday resort island of Ibiza on Friday. Bomb disposal officers then dismantled her seat as a precaution.

Britain’s Daily Mirror quoted police sources saying the woman, thought to be Iranian, had planned to travel to Dublin after a stopover in London.

The incident had caused panic on the aircraft, a passenger aboard the plane at Ibiza airport told a local paper on the Spanish island. Passengers were then evacuated to let the seat dismantlers work more efficiently.

The flight took off for London, without the woman, two hours later.
