egtmedia59People in Hawaii will soon get the chance to try the “best breakfast in the world.

The Australia-based restaurant “bills” is opening its first U.S. location later this summer at the 280 Beach Walk building in Waikiki that is anchored by the Hard Rock Cafe.

The new 8,000-square-foot restaurant, which is currently under construction, will employ between 40 and 60 people.

Word on the street is that bills will attract as many or even more people than the ever popular Eggs ‘n Things restaurant around the corner.

Bills is the brainchild of Bill Granger, a self-taught cook from Melbourne whose family members were butchers and bakers.

Granger opened the original bills in the Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst in 1993, when he was 22.

Bills restaurants also are popular in Japan, with its first international location opening in Shichirigahama, Kamakura in 2008. He also has restaurants in London and Tokyo.

Andrew Starn of CBRE Group Inc. Hawaii has filled up the 280 Beach Walk building. Other tenants include Le Blanc Art by Australian-born artist Shane Bowden, Akakura, a high-end shoe store, 24 Karat, a Japanese surf shop and the Rome-based women’s clothing and accessories boutique Brandy Melville.

“I think it’s a good tenant mix,” Starn told PBN. “Our thought with the art gallery is that if you have people waiting for bills, what better way spend your wait time than by looking at great art.”
