Port Stephens rings in 2016 with first magazine, micro site, photo shoots and fairs for local weddings market
The first-ever wedding magazine for Port Stephens, a new micro website and lavish photo shoots will ring in the New Year for the newly formed ‘Love Port Stephens Weddings’ group which aims to lift the region’s share of the lucrative weddings market.
More than 30 wedding suppliers in Port Stephens have banded together under the ‘Love Port Stephens Weddings’ umbrella to inspire more couples from Sydney, Newcastle and further abroad to tie the knot amongst the blue waters, pristine beaches, huge sand dunes and bush-lined foreshores of Port Stephens.
Formed in July and supported by Destination Port Stephens and its ‘P.S. I Love You’ campaign, the Love Port Stephens Weddings action group will kick off 2016 with a glossy, 56-page weddings magazine for Port Stephens, a new micro site-www.portstephens.org.au/weddings, a series of themed, collaborative photo shoots showcasing the different styles of weddings possible in the region and attendance at weddings expos, beginning with the One Fine Day fair in Sydney on February 6 and 7, 2016.
Group coordinator, Ange Pobie, who won a tourism industry contribution award from Destination Port Stephens in November, 2015, for her wedding market initiatives, said the debut of a magazine, web presence, joint photo shoots and wedding fair representation for Port Stephens signalled the first time wedding suppliers in the region had worked together to chase a larger slice of the high-yield weddings market.
“Port Stephens boasts stunning ceremony locations, reception venues and accommodation as well as activities for bucks and hens parties and a range of quality wedding suppliers so we can offer the complete, romantic wedding package for couples who want to marry in style and that’s the message our group is now broadcasting across Australia,” Ms Pobie said.
“Port Stephens is only 2½ hours north of Sydney and our major regional airport offers direct flights interstate with the major airlines so we are confident we will see a marked rise in the number of weddings in Port Stephens in 2016 which will provide a great boost to our whole economy,” she said.
Ms Pobie said the Port Stephens wedding magazine would be launched in February in time for Valentine’s Day while the web page profiled the many wedding suppliers that were part of the group covering products such as locations, venues, accommodation, cruise and visitor activities, celebrants, stationery, entertainment, caterers, hens and bucks activities, florists, photography and wedding organisers.
She said group members were also working together on elaborate photo shoots in Port Stephens to inspire couples.
“Anything is possible for a lavish wedding in Port Stephens – from an Arabian fantasy in the dunes complete with camels and belly dancers to dreamy white beach weddings, sailing boat indulgences and a forest festooned with fairy lights,” said Ms Pobie. “Port Stephens is perfect for weddings.”
