Each winter, the waters off Port Stephens host thousands of migrating humpback whales, and holiday-makers will have the opportunity to witness the creatures as part of a new whale watch package offered by boutique resort, Marty’s at Little Beach.
An estimated 12,000 humpback whales travel from their feeding grounds in Antarctica to the warmer waters of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef each year. Winter is the ideal time to watch them in action as they give acrobatic displays by the scenic coastline of Port Stephens.
Just a two-minute walk from Shoal Bay Beach and Little Beach, Marty’s at Little Beach offers self-contained apartments, a heated swimming pool, free wi-fi, Foxtel, balcony and an undercover poolside barbecue.
The new package includes a whale watching cruise, accommodation at Marty’s at Little Beach and a choice of two of three available free gifts – popup binoculars to spot the whales, woollen beanie to keep warm while whale spotting or woollen gel socks to warm and sooth feet when returning after the cruise. The package is available from May 16 through to August 31, 2015, for one-night stays during the week or two-night stays during the weekend (Friday and Saturday nights). The package costs from $215 per night for two adults staying midweek. Conditions apply.
As one of Australia’s premier whale-watching venues and situated 2½ hours north of Sydney, Port Stephens and its marine park sit right next to the migration path of the humpback whales and draws large numbers of whale-seeking visitors each winter.
