Set deep in the Peruvian Amazon, Posada Amazonas offers a unique and incredible experience to those prepared to get out of their comfort zone and embrace the jungle. This lodge is the first joint partnership between a private company and a native community in Peru, helping provide an authentic and truly memorable experience of the mighty Amazon.

Posada Amazonas is set near the banks of the Tambopata River, in the heart of a private reserve belonging to the native Inferno community. The area is filled with wildlife – monkeys, birds, reptiles –and other natural attractions, but Posada Amazonas also offers the chance to witness first-hand the cultural practices of the Inferno people.

Guests at Posada Amazonas have the opportunity to customise their Amazonian experience, choosing between activities that have been specially designed by local community guides: the likes of birdwatching, visiting parrot clay-licks, jungle hikes, learning about the Amazon’s medicinal plants, night lectures, wildlife viewing, and visits to the nearby oxbow lake.

There are also, however, opportunities to mix with and learn directly from the Inferno people: Posada guests can spend a half day with the local Esa Eje community, where they will be taught about artisanal traditions and life in the Amazon, while also helping to preserve the Inferno’s indigenous customs.

For the true adventurers, Posada Amazonas, together with the Inferno people, also offers a series of truly off-the-beaten-track Amazonian experiences, including the construction of a river raft, jungle mountain-biking, and a nocturnal jungle hike with local guides.
