Presidential Elections In Seychelles Will Move To A Second Round On 18 December

The results of the 5th December Presidential Elections brought incumbent President James Michel on top of the election table with 47.76% followed by his closest rival Wavel Ramkalawan of the Seychelles National Party with 33.93%. But for both politicians this was below the 50% mark that was needed.


The other contenders recorded the following results: Patrick Pillay of the Lalyans Seselwa with 14.19% votes, David Pierre of the Popular Democratic Party with 2.12% , Alexia Amesbury of the SPSJD Party with 1.33% and Philippe Boule, the Independent Candidate with 0.67%.

At the last Presidential Elections of 2011 James Michel pulled 55.46% and today in 2015 he pulled 47.76% whereas Wavel Ramkalawan in 2011 pulled 41.43% and in 2015 recorded 33.93%.

The second round is set for the 16, 17 and 18 December.
