This month marks the one year anniversary since Primus Hotel Sydney’s grand opening on 23 December 2015. A stunning revival of a heritage listed space, the decadent 1930’s art deco hotel is fast becoming one of Sydney’s most beloved city escapes.
The hotel marked the grand entrance of Greenland International Hotel Group’s (GIHG) first hotel in Australia taking a chance on restoring the heritage listed property at 339 Pitt Street that once served as the offices of the Sydney Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage (M.W.S.& D.) Board.
Since opening its doors, the hotel has become one of Sydney’s leading hotels and a large player in the market, breaking even in the second month of opening and becoming the No.1 Sydney Hotel on TripAdvisor two months after opening.
Primus Hotel Sydney’s General Manager Daniel Muhor has seen the hotel transform into one of Sydney’s most sought after accommodation offerings and comments,
“Guests love that they are transported to an era of 1930’s glamour with the decadent Art Deco lobby and 5 star personal service from the moment they walk through the doors.”
“We see 2017 being a massive year for the hotel with growth expected both across our accommodation and food and beverage offering.”
The adjoining restaurant, The Wilmot has become a hub for both corporate and leisure guests in the Sydney CBD and is earning an enviable reputation. Its seasonal menus heralding quality local produce has enticed the city’s top food writers and critics. The Wilmot also launched its High Tea menu with Mother’s Day High Tea selling out and the take on a Gentlemen’s High Tea fast becoming a Sydney favourite.
The hotel has made its mark in the domestic market with 66% interstate guests and saw 34% of guests inbound from countries such as, China, USA, NZ, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.
The hotel is also being recognised for its event capabilities hosting the 2016 International Traveller Reader’s Choice Awards and 2016 Gourmet Traveller Awards in the grand Lobby and Heineken3 launch on the Rooftop.
As Primus Hotel Sydney continues to welcome guests through the doors, Greenland Australia are focusing on the development of the Greenland Tower set to be Sydney’s tallest residential tower at 235 metres above ground level with completion due in last 2019. They also have their sights set on opening another Australian hotel in the near future.
