“ Ole Ola en sel lavwa’’ winner of this year’s song competition opened the live radio show which stretched for well over half an hour. Referring to Minister Alain St.Ange, as the man behind the Carnival, Jules Hoareau, the show’s popular presenter, questioned Minister St.Ange on the concept of the 2014 edition of the carnival and on the outcome from such an event in Seychelles. Mr Hoareau of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation also wanted the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to spell out the benefits of the carnival to the Seychelles tourism industry.

Carnaval International de Victoria, said Minister St.Ange is the biggest manifestation organised in Seychelles and it is this event that attracts to its shore the biggest contingent of International Press. “It cost the country 25-40 thousand pound sterling to buy a publicity in glossy magazines and on foreign press. We cannot afford this amount of money to boost the visibility of Seychelles around the world. The carnival is the only card we and the region has that will today attract the largest group of International Press to our shores and make our country and our region visible to the outside world and relevant in the world of tourism’’

In terms of measuring the added and continued benefits from the carnival, Minister St.Ange said that the Seychelles Tourism Board needed to ensure that Seychelles remains visible in the press throughout the year and not just during the period of the carnival. This is why the Tourism Board will be also showcasing the irresistible beauty of Seychelles to the visiting journalists. The Minister also reiterated that the local business community supporting and participating the carnival will this year have the chance to use the International Press to showcase their products and properties.

“The Seychelles Tourism Board has been innovative in its approach to bring new elements in the carnival. This year we will use the Press Conference for the international press contingent to invite local businesses participating in the floats parade or those who are main sponsors of the carnival to meet the press.’’

Sherin Naiken, Chief Executive Officer of Seychelles Tourism Board said that for this 2014 edition of Carnaval International de Victoria, the Tourism Board will bring new attractions in Victoria on 25th -27th April. Sherin Naiken was also present in Bonzour Sesel to give an interview on the coming Carnival International de Victoria.
