East Shanghai presents various promotions at its food and beverage outlets by offering sustainable and locally sourced items on the menu to show support to Shangri-La group’s “Rooted in Nature” project which aims to take ecological and environmental sustainability to a brand new level.

In conjunction with Earth Hour, Lobby Lounge will host the launch of the “Rooted in Nature” project with a gala dinner on Saturday, 28 March 2015, from 7 to 10 p.m. Guests will be offered a set menu, featuring cuisine with the finest locally and ethically-sourced ingredients as well as beverages inspired by the campaign to conserve Mother Earth. All proceeds from this dinner will go to the hotel’s environmental CSR fund.

Chef Jeremy Biasiol of Jade on 36 Restaurant has created a special one-night-only menu using sustainable ingredients sourced locally. This menu representing the pinnacle of combining fine foods and natural ingredients, features Marinated China Sea Scallops, Farmed Organic Green Vegetables with Caviar from Yunnan as appetiser; Roasted Big Tiger Shrimps from Guangzhou, Gnocchi, Local Burrata Cheese and Tomato or Slow Cooked Beef Cheek, Onion Confit, Foie Gras and Asparagus as main course and Paris Memory as dessert.

Yi Café will be transformed into a garden as the salad bar will be decorated with organic vegetables based on the “Rooted in Nature” concept. Jade on 36 Bar presents Sustainable Cocktails, such as Mojitos with mint leaves sourced from local farmers and Bloody Mary featuring organic tomato juice. “Dine and conserve” is the theme at Gui Hua Lou as a la carte dishes with organic ingredients are marked with the “Rooted in Nature” logo.

Shangri-La’s “Rooted In Nature” initiative is part of the group’s long-term sustainability commitment. At a time when most hotels and restaurants will have Earth Day “stunts”, Shangri-La offers a promotion deeply connected to the hotel’s ongoing CSR efforts and food and beverage expertise. Shangri-La aims to be a leader in sustainable dining with a commitment to the Earth that goes beyond one day.

The gala dinner at Lobby Lounge is priced at RMB488 per person. The set menu at Jade on 36 is priced at RMB460 per person. Sustainable cocktails are priced at RMB98 per glass. The prices quoted above are subject to a 15 per cent service charge.
