Qantas Holidays RaceAround Hong Kong!

The annual Qantas Holidays RaceAround 2017 supported by Qantas Airways and Hong Kong Tourism Board has now wrapped up. With 40 leisure consultants travelling to Hong Kong to test out their navigation skills, stamina and team spirit over four exciting days of adventure.

Consultants earned their place on the mega famil by selling Qantas Holidays and Qantas Airways product, to accrue points during the promotion period. With bonus points awarded to those who also completed the Hong Kong Specialist Programme.

Armed with their team backpacks full of essential supplies, the Hong Kong extravaganza kicked off with a site inspection of the yet to open Murray Hong Kong, A Niccolo Hotel, the city’s newest luxury iconic landmark hotel, followed by a welcome cocktail function at Fox Glove, a cool speakeasy bar in the city.

After receiving an envelope with their challenges each day, the teams started out with the theme park challenge, taking consultants to Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park, also earning bonus points through additional challenges posted on the RaceAround Facebook page.

The Great Outdoors Hiking Challenge put team stamina to the test, followed the next day by the Highlights of Kowloon and HK Island Challenge. The Gala Dinner, held on the Sunday evening at Ammo Restaurant, featured the penultimate challenge – The Lip Sync Challenge – before announcing the winning team. The 2017 champions received the Winners Trophy, presented by key sponsors and crowned the RaceAround Winners 2017.

“RaceAround is such an amazing experience for all the agents involved!” said Steve Brady, National Sales Manager Wholesale Qantas Holidays.

“The competition was fierce this year, both from agents beforehand wanting to win a place on the trip and then from the four teams of agents while in Hong Kong,” he said.

HKTB Manager, Trade Marketing and Business Tourism Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Lisa Lee said “We find that the best way to really understand and appreciate the magic of Hong Kong is to experience it firsthand, and as travel agents continue to play a vital role in the growth of Hong Kong in the Australian market, activities such as this one have become invaluable”.
