Qatar Airways marks a milestone in Australia this week as it celebrates six years of flying Australian travellers to more than 150 destinations. The premium international airline has seen significant growth since entering the Australian market in 2009 with its first direct flight from Melbourne, and daily flights from Perth since 2012.
With its award winning services, the airline quickly won the hearts of Victorian and Western Australian travellers, and is now setting its sights on Adelaide and Sydney.
Qatar Airways has recently announced that both cities will join its Australian network – a direct Sydney to Doha flight commencing from 2 March 2016 and direct Adelaide to Doha commencing from 3 May 2016. This means the airline will soon provide Australia-based travellers with 28 weekly flights from four major Australian cities to more than 150 destinations globally across six continents.
Qatar Airways is also set to be the first airline to bring the state-of-the-art A350 aircraft to Australia. The A350 aircraft will fly to Adelaide, which is a key business and leisure destination in Southern Australia, enabling Qatar Airways to maximise the A350’s efficiency and performance and allowing customers their first opportunity to try the world’s newest aircraft.
Country Manager for Australasia, Adam Radwanski, said that the additions of Sydney and Adelaide and the deployment of a brand new, high-tech aircraft into Australia were reflective of Qatar Airways’ success in Australia, and the growing demand from consumers for premium travel.
There is much to look forward to as we embark on our seventh year of operations in Australia, including the launch of the highly anticipated Sydney route, and the debut of the A350 service from Australia, in Adelaide in May 2016.
“Adding these destinations will provide greater choice for holidaymakers and business travellers. Qatar Airways in Australia has been connecting Melbourne and Perth passengers to its extensive global network with fast connections and unparalleled service, and Sydney and Adelaide travellers will soon have the option to fly our premium service as well.”
‘Qatar Airways’ Airbus A350 service represents the future of high-tech travel, and we are delighted to bring the most modern aircraft for travellers to experience.’ added Radwanski.
The Qatar Airways Airbus A350 service includes 36 Business Class seats, spacious seating in Economy with only nine abreast, wide panoramic windows, lower cabin pressure for increased well-being throughout the entire flight; Wi-Fi on-board and over 2,000 In-Flight Entertainment options for an even more enjoyable in-flight experience.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth globally in just 18 years of operation and currently flies a modern fleet of 173 aircraft to 153 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
Since the start of the 2015 alone, Qatar Airways has begun services to Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Zanzibar (Tanzania), Abha (Saudi Arabia), and Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan (Pakistan). In the pipeline before the end of 2015 is Durban (South Africa). In 2016, the Dohabased carrier has announced they will be flying to three new American cities: Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta, as well as Birmingham in the United Kingdom – making it a total of 71 weekly flights from Doha to the United Kingdom alone.
