Qatar Airways, as presenting sponsor of Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), brought sports fans from around the world to witness the dramatic second season of competitive tennis in Kobe, Manila, New Delhi, Dubai and Singapore.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “We are pleased to see an overwhelming response across the world to the latest season of IPTL. The league has managed to bring some of the biggest stars of the game together and helped establish tennis as a popular sport in regions that were not traditionally associated with the game. During the season, Qatar Airways played host to various tennis players on-board our A319 all-premium executive jet where they experienced our luxurious hospitality in the sky.”
Spectators turned up in large numbers for the finale in Singapore last weekend to cheer for the iconic stars. Team OUE Singapore Slammers emerged as champions on December 20th after an exhilarating final match with the Indian Aces. Participation of Grand Slam champions and top-ranked tennis stars in the second season of the league showcases the acceptance and success of IPTL’s innovative and thrilling format.
The league featured renowned players such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Ana Ivanovic, and other legends and current stars playing for five teams – the Philippine Mavericks, OUE Singapore Slammers, Micromax Indian Aces, Legendari Japan Warriors and the Obi UAE Royals.
This is the second year Qatar Airways has sponsored IPTL. As the presenting sponsor, Qatar Airways secured exclusive booths with activations at the match locations, bringing sports enthusiasts to engage and experience the thrill of the game, which included winning flight tickets to any Qatar Airways destination.
