Qatar Airways is delighted to announce that it is the Official Airline Partner of the Qatar Classic 2018 Squash Tournament, taking place from 27 October – 2 November at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar.

The Qatar Classic 2018 Squash Tournament will see top players from around the world gather in Doha to compete for a championship prize of $177,000 – the largest award in the tournament’s history. Players battling it out in this year’s event include rising Qatari champion Abdulla Al Tamimi, rated 28th in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Ranking; Germany’s leading squash player, Simon Rösner, rated fifth in the PSA world ranking; South America’s first top ten player, Miguel Angel Rodriguez, rated sixth in the PSA world ranking, as well as many more top-ranked global players.

Qatar Airways’ award-winning hospitality will be on display at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex throughout the event, where Qatar Airways cabin crew will present trophies to the tournament champions. A ticketing booth will also be available to assist with any queries that attendees might have about their flight tickets.

Qatar Classic Squash Championship Higher Organising Committee Chairman of Qatar Classic, His Excellency Mr. Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, said: “Our partnership with Qatar Airways is a key enabler for Qatar Squash Federation to organise high-quality events and to continue defining Qatar as a globally renowned and vibrant centre for world-class sporting events.”

Qatar Airways holds an extensive global sports portfolio, sponsoring some of the biggest teams around the world. In addition to its existing partnership with the German football club giants FC Bayern München AG, for which it is a Platinum Partner, Qatar Airways also recently revealed multi-year sponsorship agreements with Italian football club AS Roma, and with Argentinian football club Boca Juniors, which saw the award-winning airline become the Official Jersey Sponsor for both teams. Qatar Airways is also the official airline sponsor of Qatar ExxonMobil open men’s tennis tournament and Qatar Total open women’s tennis tournament.

The national carrier for the State of Qatar was recently named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Business Class Seat’, ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’, and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.
