QT Sydney and Tropfest Collaborate and Accommodate

Sydney’s hip designer hotel QT Sydney, is excited to announce another creative collaboration with its official partnership of Tropfest December 2013, one of Australia’s most prestigious cultural events and the largest short film festival in the world

549524A hub of culture and ingenuity, QT Sydney presents the perfect partner for the festival, which is recognised for its enormous contibution to the development of the Australian film industry. Tropfest provides unique platforms for emerging filmmakers through its events and initiatives, and finds new and expanding audiences for their work.

Their support and involvement as official hotel partner is an important part of our event,” says Tropfest Managing Director, Michael Laverty.

QT Sydney was the city’s first new hotel build in over a decade joining the historical State Theatre and Gowings Building. Both buildings holding a place steeped within Sydney’s rich cultural history, with the State Theatre being one of the country’s first large scale theatrical spaces. Over 80 years on, the organisations within the building continue to support Sydney’s burgeouning art community.

506703Built with the creative industries in mind, QT Sydney boasts cutting edge art, design and ideas featuring LED digital art, bespoke furniture and a bold colour palette. QT Sydney’s Reel Room, steeped in wartime cinematic history, has also sprung back to life as a private screening room which will become a viewing hub for Tropfest in the lead up to the festival.

Tropfest attracts a live national audience of around than 150,000 people on a single night, and reaches even more short film fans via the national broadcast on free-to-air TV channel SBS 2. This year, on Sunday 8 December, the festival will be hosted at Sydney’s Centennial Park, with live screenings in in major cities across Australia including Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Hobart, Darwin and Surfers Paradise.

As the official hotel partner of this December’s Tropfest, QT Sydney will offer a special rate of $280 per night for Tropfest attendees. It will also host the exclusive VIP afterparty at Gilt Lounge.
