Hamilton Island has today named Matthew Taverner as the new General Manager of Australia’s foremost luxury resort; qualia.

Commencing 1 August 2013, Taverner has 28 years experience in the hospitality and tourism industries, including over 20 years in managerial roles. His skill, knowledge and expertise transverses three continents, with positions previously held in Australia, Fiji, Seychelles Islands, Zambia, Bali, Indonesia and most recently, Hong Kong.

Glenn Bourke, Hamilton Island Enterprises’ CEO, said: ‘Matthew is a veteran hotelier with an undeniable wealth of experience across multiple facets of travel, tourism and hospitality. He is the ideal candidate and the qualia and wider Hamilton Island teams, both on Island and in Sydney, are all very much looking forward to welcoming Matthew to his new role as General Manager of the Best Resort in the World.’

Taverner said: ‘My appointment to the role of General Manager at qualia is indeed an honour, and one that I do not enter into lightly.
