Cunard Line’s newest luxury liner, Queen Elizabeth, has been awarded two of U.S. Travel Weekly’s 2014 Magellan Gold Awards for Overall Luxury Cruise Ship and for Cabin Design for her Single Britannia staterooms.

This marks the fourth Magellan Gold Award for Queen Elizabeth and her fifth overall Magellan Awards recognition since 2012.

The annual U.S. Travel Weekly Magellan Awards honour the best in travel. Queen Elizabeth’s past Gold Magellan Awards include Best in Luxury Ship Entertainment and Atrium Design.

“It is most rewarding for our youngest Queen to continue to receive high accolades from the industry’s most respected experts,” said David Dingle, chairman of Cunard Line.  “These Gold Magellan Awards are a testament to our ongoing commitment to provide world-class cruise travel luxury. We are particularly pleased to have our new Single Staterooms aboard Queen Elizabeth be given such high honour.”

Queen Elizabeth, the second largest Cunard ship ever built, offers the very best of Cunard’s heritage and traditions, seamlessly blending Art Deco features with classic and modern day luxuries.  With a nod to her predecessor, the original Queen Elizabeth, and the high society culture of the 1930s and 40s, guests enjoy a selection of 12 restaurants and bars, an 832-seat Royal Court theatre with private viewing boxes, a two-storey library, a spa and fitness centre, an outdoor pool and 1,046 staterooms and suites – personal butler service included for those staying within the Queen Grill suites.

The recent addition of the single passenger staterooms on board Queen Elizabeth came at a time Cunard Line recognized the increasing popularity of solo travel. At 159 to 162 square-feet, the ship’s nine new Britannia Single Staterooms are spacious and comfortable, with generously sized 47” (120cm) single beds and central locations.  Eight of the nine single cabins face outside and offer plenty of light through large, floor-to-ceiling windows.
