Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) CEO, Leanne Coddington, said Queensland on Tour New Zealand 2016, the State’s largest tourism trade mission to NZ, had sold out with overwhelming interest from Queensland sellers and more than 100 New Zealand industry agents.
“With a record 50 Queensland tourism business involved this year, Queensland on Tour New Zealand is a hugely popular and valuable annual initiative to sell Queensland’s destinations and holiday experiences to one of our largest international visitor markets,” Ms Coddington said.
“We have seen consistent support from the Queensland tourism industry and the New Zealand trade sector since the event began over three years ago.
“A significant number of Queensland destinations are represented on the tour including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Fraser Coast, Outback Queensland, Southern Great Barrier Reef, Southern Queensland Country, Sunshine Coast, Townsville North Queensland, Tropical North Queensland, and the Whitsundays.
“It gives Queensland industry the opportunity to meet key New Zealand representatives including travel agents, product managers and reservation staff, as well as selected travel trade and consumer media.
“We also have the first event, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, on board this year to promote Australia’s longest-running and celebrated horticultural event.
“This activity follows fantastic visitor growth from New Zealand in 2015 with 424,000 visitors to Queensland who spent $556 million, increases of two and four per cent respectively.
“This is a great time to drive home the Queensland holiday message in New Zealand.”
Queensland on Tour New Zealand will take place at the Novotel Lakeside Hotel and Skyline in Queenstown from 6-8 April 2016.
