Runners in this weekend’s Air New Zealand International Queenstown marathon (Saturday November 21) will be fueled, fit and ready to go thanks to Queenstown’s Hotel St Moritz.
Idyllically located in the heart of delightful Queenstown, Hotel St Moritz is helping their guests running the 42km, 21km and 10km distances to get in the spirit of the race with a number of themed treats to celebrate New Zealand’s most scenic marathon.
All runners will be welcomed by the hotel with goody bag to help boost energy levels en route. The pack includes a temporary marathon tattoo for the race, jet plane jelly sweets to keep sugar levels high and the hotel’s homemade trail nut mix for a fast fix of energy post-race.
Before the event, award-winning restaurant Lombardi will be laying on the perfect carb-loaded runner’s dinner, serving mouthwatering dishes designed to boost energy for race day and aid fast recovery.
The morning after the marathon, everyone’s a winner with a healthy breakfast buffet loaded with fresh fruits including blueberries for muscle repair, smoothies, Greek yoghurt and a tasty Hotel St Moritz’ homemade sourdough bread.
Hotel St Moritz General Manager Jo Finnigan said Queenstown was the “perfect” place for runners to soak up the energy of the landscape – inspiring mountains, pristine lakes and stunning countryside.
“We’re delighted to host runners who’ve come from all around New Zealand and further afield to compete in this very special event. Whatever we can do to help them get out on the course in the best shape they can be, then we’re doing it.
“We’ve got the perfect spot for a bit of post-race recovery whether that needs a glass of stunning pinot noir, a ‘chill-out’ bath with ice bags provided or a long hot soak in our hot tub garden.
“Once guests have crossed the finish line and received their hard-won medals, we’ll have a mobile massage service operating from the hotel to rub down those sore legs and yoga aficionados will be on hand ensuring guests stretch their way to recovery.”

For the truly dedicated, guests can chill out in an ice cold bath with pre-prepared ice bags on hand for runners, or the ‘do-it-yourself’ version is available with a quick chilly dip in the glacial waters of Lake Wakatipu.
The hotel guest who runs the fastest time on the day will be rewarded with a bottle of the hotel’s new house champagne Veuve Cliquot to celebrate their truly significant achievement.
Hotel St Moritz Queenstown is a joint sponsor of the Air New Zealand International Queenstown marathon as part of the AccorHotels group.
