Rail Plus has once again expanded its pantheon of Great Train Journeys with the addition this year of a luxury chariot ride through Southern India, a voyage to the ‘Lost City of the Incas’ and a charming excursion through Dear Old Blighty.

Hand-picked by Rail Plus’ team of specialists, the 2015 Great Train Journeys program once again brings together a selection of the world’s greatest luxury voyages – from the fabled Venice Simplon-Orient Express and the legendary Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian to the breathtaking Rocky Mountaineer and the opulent ‘Pride of Africa’.

Like all great luxury adventures, each train offers its guests first-class service, the finest cuisine and some unique travel experiences, along with the added convenience of having to unpack just once.

This year’s Great Train Journeys includes three new options:

  • The Belmond British Pullman (from $470 per person) – a sister train to Venice Simplon-Orient-Express that glides through the picturesque British countryside on a charming five-hour round trip from London’s Victoria Station, with guests enjoying a sumptuous lunch (and Champagne) in vintage carriages that once ran on legendary 1920s services
  • The Golden Chariot (from $4,667 pp twin share) – explore India’s southern states on two unique seven-night itineraries, the first (Pride of the South) travelling from Bangalore to Badami and the famous beach city of Goa, while the second (Southern Splendour) departing the garden city for the ancient temple towns of Tamil Nadu and the coastal city of Kochi
  • The Vistadome (from $203 pp) – large panoramic windows offer guests incomparable views as they travel on a three-hour excursion from Poroy to the sacred ruins of Machu Picchu, along the way experiencing Andean culture through landscapes, music, traditional dance and food prepared with local ingredients.

General Manager – Sales & Marketing, Greg McCallum, says the elegance, romance and adventure of luxury train journeys is continuing to resonate with Australasian travellers.

“Luxury rail journeys are expected to account for 15 per cent of Rail Plus’ total sales this year across Australia and New Zealand – up from 5 per cent just two years ago,” says McCallum.

“Our latest Great Train Journeys collection is an outstanding sales tool designed to ensure all our valued travel agent partners continue to share in that growth.”

Rail Plus operates a dedicated phone line for Great Train Journeys, allowing travel agents to quickly connect with expert consultants and secure seats on some of the world’s most exclusive rail adventures.
