Ramada JBR_EarthHour2015Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach Residence, a premier hotel in Dubai’s prestigious leisure destination, joined the world in switching the lights off as part of the Earth Hour global initiative on March 28, 2015.

From 8:30 – 9:30 p.m., one hour of complete darkness was simultaneously accomplished by millions of people across 135 countries and twenty-four time zones around the globe to address climate change, the earth’s most serious environmental challenge.

Alper Can Bulcum, Cluster General Manager of Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach Residence and Ramada Sharjah, said, “The action of switching our lights off this week was a humble effort on behalf of the hotel to support the call for strengthening awareness for the prevention of global warming.”

“This is a part of our commitment to energy conservation as we continuously take our own measures, such as reusing and recycling of non-biodegradable materials, to help preserve and protect our environment through reducing our carbon footprint,” he added.

Launched in Australia in 2007 by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Earth Hour has grown to be the world’s largest environmental event, according to the organization, mobilizing people around a range of environmental issues from energy efficiency to deforestation.
