On Wednesday, 21 May, Story Bridge Hotel is excited to host the Rare and Fine Yalumba Wines Luncheon in the newly-revamped Deery’s Restaurant & Smokehouse.

Founded in 1849, the success of Yalumba Winery is recognised worldwide, as Australia’s oldest family-owned winery.

Deerys_Food_Table_resizeJoin Story Bridge Hotel for an indulgent afternoon sampling some of Yalumba’s finest wines together with a decadent four-course lunch, hosted by Winemaker, Jane Ferrari.

As Yalumba’s passionate and vivacious Winemaker and Communicator, Ferrari has spoken to audiences across the globe, establishing her own trademark style of storytelling that has made her a favourite among wine and travel enthusiasts.

Learn about the winery’s background and the origins of each drop as you sip your way through a selection of bottles, including the 2004 The Reserves Cabernet Sauvignon, which is now at its perfect age 10 years from vintage.

Other highlights include The Octavius Shiraz, which has earned a status as one of Australia’s icon Shiraz wines; and the legendary FDR1A, an outstanding Cabernet and Shiraz blend. The menu also teases a ‘Mystery Wine’, sure to intrigue wine lovers in attendance.

And if any of the wines on offer really get your tastebuds tingling, you may place your orders directly at the restaurant, or pick up a bottle to take home straight away from the specially set-up wine shop.

Deery’s Restaurant & Smokehouse Head Chef, Adam Clements, has prepared a delicious four-course menu plus canapés to perfectly complement the Yalumba Wines. Enjoy gourmet canapés of Duck liver parfait, lavender and fennel scented jelly and candied orange; followed by entrées of Roast Quail breast, coffee, fennel seed and pink pepper rub; and salad of roast celeriac, pomegranate, bitter leaves and blueberry gel.

Mains include Twice-cooked Western Plains pork collar butt, baked juniper and tarragon gnocchi, roasted red grapes, watercress and cacao bean jus; and Slow cooked Barossa Valley Beef, spiced pumpkin and horseradish puree, roasted shallot, pork scratching w/ rosemary salt liquorice reduction. To finish, indulge in a plate of Gippsland Blue Cheese, poached rhubarb, pistachio crisps and truffled honey.

The Rare and Fine Yalumba Wines Luncheon begins at 12.00pm for a 12.30 sitting. Tickets are $110 per person, or tables of 10 may be booked for $1,000.
