From 16 to 19 March 2016 aspiring designers from around the world will again present their innovative and mostly non-conformist fashion collections during Berlin Alternative Fashion Week (BAFW) at the Postbahnhof. airberlin is the main sponsor for the third consecutive year, having demonstrated in the last two seasons that Germany’s secondlargest airline and the BAFW are a ‘perfect match’.

Berlin Alternative Fashion Week showcases alternative fashion concepts from more than 60 avant-garde designers from 25 different countries, uniting fashion with the music and art worlds without ties to established brands or labels.

“airberlin is not an off-the-peg airline. That’s why Berlin Alternative Fashion Week and airberlin go so well together and why we are once again supporting this year’s event as the main sponsor. The creative power of designers and the constant fresh perspectives on the catwalk are a great inspiration both for the spectators and for our airline,.” said airberlin Chief Executive Officer, Stefan Pichler.

Berlin Alternative Fashion Week is an important part of airberlin’s local marketing strategy in the capital. “Berlin is non-conformist and offers scope for ideas. Our brand essence strongly reflects these values. As Berliners, we are delighted to support the BAFW – a project that perfectly showcases the cosmopolitan, young, and fresh face of the capital,” Pichler continued.

A special highlight for airberlin this year is the extraordinary paper dress by designer Jule Waibel, which was created from blank airberlin boarding passes and can be seen live at the REUSE:it show on 18th March 2016 at the Postbahnhof. Together, airberlin and designer Jule Waibel have brought a touch of aviation to the catwalk, and an interesting new fashion look. Some airberlin staff will also be on show: at an employee-only model casting, four airberlin crew members impressed the jury, which featured guest designer Larry Tee (TZUJI), and will strut down the catwalk for the designer’s ALCHEMY show on 19 March at the Postbahnhof.

Aside from the shows, more than 40 designers will be selling their creations at a designer marketplace. Curious fashion victims can chat with the designers over a drink, or enjoy a snack.
