The Festival has been named a finalist in the Best Regional Event 2018 category.

Festival Director Rae Baker is a finalist in the Best Event Professional 2018 category.

Rae joined Festival as director in October 2017 and delivered a vibrant 2018 Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival.

The finalist spots come amid hot competition as the NZEA received a third more entries than in 2017.

Destination Queenstown chief executive Graham Budd is delighted that Rae and the Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival are being recognised in this way on the national stage.

“The Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2019, I can’t think of a better way to mark that milestone than by being named finalists for these awards.

Rae and her team work year-round to deliver this iconic event for Queenstowners, New Zealanders and visitors from abroad, kicking off winter in New Zealand like only we know how.”

Rae says she’s proud to lead a festival that continues to attract and entertain visitors and our community alike after so many years.
“Being acknowledged by the NZEA is recognition of the whole Festival team’s efforts to bring this regional showcase to life in our unique place. We are so thrilled to be finalists in these awards.”

The winners will be announced at the NZEA Event Awards function in early 2019.

Queenstown Winter Festival principle sponsor and Queenstown tourism company Real Journeys’ Birds of a Feather Conservation Ball is a finalist in the Best Corporate Social Responsibility or Not for Profit Event category.

Alongside Festival are Southern Lakes regional finalists Warbirds over Wanaka International Airshow in Best National Event Category and Warbirds’ Mandy Deans in the Best Event Professional category.

The 2019 Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival is on 20-23 June.
