A simple team building exercise on day one of TravelManagers’ national conference was nothing short of exceptional.

IMG_6091-2Thirty-six teams consisting of a mix of personal travel managers, national partnership office staff and partner suppliers worked collectively together to build a bike. After the challenge each bike was presented to a disadvantaged child from Rosemeadow Public School as nominated by VARIETY – the children’s charity.

“We had incredible fun building our bike, a fantastic team building exercise with everybody playing their part. We knew there would be a community event but to see our bike given to a disadvantaged child and watch their first ride on a bike we built from scratch was incredible. It’s moments like these that cement my love for TravelManagers’ and all that they stand for,” says personal travel manager Tania Pickering, representative for Ballajura, WA.

The 2013 TravelManagers’ conference has attracted 39 partner suppliers, a record attendance. The morning of day two is dedicated to partner supplier networking sessions, allowing the personal travel managers an opportunity to be updated on the latest products and services.

TravelManagers’ National Business Partnership Manager, Suzanne Laister says the support received from partner suppliers for the 2013 national conference is unparalleled with premium partner and conference sponsors commitment being second to none.

“We would have loved to have said yes to all of our partner suppliers requesting participation in our networking sessions but unfortunately we had to turn down many requests due to space limitations.”

The 2013 TravelManagers’ National Conference is nothing short of innovative, for the first time hosting a dual land and sea national conference.

Early afternoon sees all participants transfer to Circular Quay for part two of the national conference aboard Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas. Double the size of any ship currently based in Australia, it has a three-deck main dining room seating almost 2,000 people at any one time) a two-deck nightclub and the 1,350-seat Royal Theatre.

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome TravelManagers’ delegates on board for their 2013 conference. Voyager of the Seas is the biggest and most innovative cruise ship sailing in Australia and New Zealand waters, and I think all guests will really love their time on board whether they’re in one of the many restaurants, on the ice rink, in the spa or even at work in our modern conference facilities,” says Royal Caribbean Cruises Asia Pacific, Regional Vice President Gavin Smith.

After lunch on board, the personal travel managers will participate in a variety of small group workshop sessions including airfares, cruise, IT and marketing.  The themes for these workshops have been based on personal travel managers’ feedback from state-based regional meetings earlier in the year.

“The focus for each and every session will be to develop insights and ideas that will add value to their personal travel managers’ businesses.  The workshops are designed to cater for both well-established personal travel managers and new entrants at the beginning of their personal travel manager business careers,” says Laister.

The obligatory safety cruise briefing late afternoon, indicates it’s time for the conference to set sail. The first night aboard sees everyone enjoying a cocktail party and official Royal Caribbean International welcome followed by dinner and an official Royal Caribbean International welcome.

The Voyager of the Seas will travel through the Tasman Sea returning to Sydney on Saturday 09 November.
